Assassin Overview

The two main skills that an assassin has is sneak and backstab. The two go hand in hand. People who choose to play an assassin typically do so for pkilling. In order to become a successful pkiller you must be able to sneak up on your prey. In Isengard, to backstab someone you must be wielding either a sharp or thrusting type of weapon. So when creating an assassin be sure to choose one of the two types. I suggest beginning with sharp, because there are several easy to acquire good sharp weapons like the ork blade and cat'o'nine tails.

How much you backstab for is based on how strong of a weapon you are wielding. If you are using a weapon which you hit from 10-12 damage with, you will do 30-36 damage with a backstab. (The multiplier for you math impaired is "3" times your normal damage). This is not random, like a thief's backstab and is based purely on your strength, proficiency and weapon strength.

I am no longer listing suggested specific races. Instead, players should really look at what would benefit their class type the best. In the case of the assassin I suggest a race which can see in the dark. Look at the Book of Knowledge and note which races have nightvision and decide which + and - would be most beneficial for you.

Suggested Statistics

str: 18 dex: 18 con: 3 int: 12 pie: 3
Pros:
This is the most common stats for an assassin. The two most important stats: strength and dexterity are maxed out, the points left over are assigned to intelligence to aid in casting mainly for pkilling. Dwarves make good assassins as they can use better armor and have nightvision.
Cons:
With low constitution and low piety you will tick slowly for a meager amount of hps. (Con only goes up three times for an assassin, so unless you start at 14 if you want a bonus, or at 5, you will always get a negative bonus). There is not a huge impact in giving non-casting oriented classes extra intelligence. Practicing your casting is ultimately more important and the extra intelligence points will give you no more than a few extra points of damage.

str: 17 dex: 17 con: 6 int: 11 pie: 3
Pros:
Since I know most of you can't stand not being an elf, here's a skillset which will benefit you in the longrun if you choose to be elven. Your strength will max out at 21 eventually, your dex at 23 and intel at 18.
Cons:
If you choose elf, you can't wear the best armors. You will tick slowly, and not maxing out dexterity will also make your ac suffer slightly.

Training Information

Training to levels 2 through 5 is done in the Celduin facility. The facility is located w, s, w, w, door (hidden) from the Clinic. It is marked as "M" on the map of Celduin in the maps section. There are no items or keys required.

Training from levels 6-9 is done in the Finwe facility. It is marked as "E" on the map of Finwe in the maps section. In order to train in this facility you must first pledge to the Godfather's organization. The Godfather can be found at the "Godfather's house of Games" or "1" on the map of Celduin in the maps section. There is a hidden door where the Godfather is. Once pledged you can kill and be killed by pledged Paladins and Fighters despite a lawful alignment, adversely you can kill them in turn. There are no items or keys required.

Training from levels 10-12 is done outside of Finwe in the Brunskild Trader's Guild. It is marked as "A" on the map of Merlock Trail in the maps section. There is a secret door in the room where the Guildmaster is. Training now requires a few quests:

Level 10: For the first quest you must obtain an Enforcer Sword. The Enforcer Sword is a quest item, so if you picked it up earlier, have someone carry it for you. It can be found guarded by Colonel Arnor, who is the head of your rival organization, the militia. Colonel Arnor resists magic and circling, so the only way to kill him is to hack.

Level 11: For the second quest i have no idea what you need to do as I have never spent time playing an assassin, nor do I feel like finding out at the moment what you need to do. If someone feels like telling me, I'll post it.

Training for levels 13+ is done in Parth in the library's Golden Door. It is marked as "4" on the map of Parth in the maps section. There are no items or keys required.

Use the Isengard Stat Engine to create your character!

I just thought it might be interesting for people to find out what each specific class' hps/mps are at each level.
