I’m disappointed that the video gear from monoprice.com hasen’t arrived yet. The key item that’s missing is a HDMI cable and the mounting bracket for the TV. I guess I could take the HDMI cable from the TV upstairs, but I just want to have everything perfect for the start of the program. Looks like the rescheduled delivery date is now 2/4.
Meanwhile, I have been reading the Elite Nutrition guide that came with the Insanity workout. I’m impressed with the no nonsense language. I especially like the calculator they use to figure out how many calories you will need a day. I figure that once I start the workouts, I’m going to need:
66 + (6.23 * 192) + (12.7 * 72) – (6.8 * 37)
[Where the bold numbers are weight, height in inches and age]
66 + 1196.16 + 914.4 – 251.6
1924.96
Then * that number by activity level which would be 1.6
1924.96 * 1.6 = 3080 calories a day
Since I’m looking to lose weight, subtract 500 calories.
My magic number is 2580 calories per day or basically a little more than 500 calories per meal. For Toni [did I mention my wife and I are doing it together?] her magic number is 1865 or 375 calories per meal.
I’m still not sure how I’m going to eat 5 meals a day though. Having lunch at work is no problem, but meals 2 and 4 at work can be. I’ll have to figure out a routine where I can have my “snack” meals ready at work. I’m looking at the non cooking types which is a mix of nuts/fruit/breads/etc
I saw the infomercial this morning as well. I don’t think I ever bought anything from an informercial, let alone exercise tapes or equipment. In fact, I would never buy any type of exercise equipment for home because the only thing I ever seen them used for is clothes hangers. I’m hoping that the program lives up to the quality of the infomercial. We’ll see
ETA to start is now Sat. Getting excited and nervous at the same time.

Hi!
I’m looking forward to starting Insanity. I completed P90X recently. This too came with a nutrition guide.
Congrats on your decision to pursue such an intense workout.
I bring a protein bar and some recovery drink to work with me. I eat it two hours before lunch. Then two – three hours later I’ll eat a yogurt and some nuts. You can usually fit something in.
Will you be posting your results? Did you join the beachbody community? I am a Beachbody Coach so if you have any questions I’d be more than happy to help you.
Kind regards,
Frank
